Community Waste Water Management Schemes (CWMS)

A list of all the CWMS within the NYLGA was established and it was recognised that a common set of templates enables resources for councils to support each other more effectively. The development of business case for regional processing plant (sludge/trade waste). Management of trade waste and sludge is a common issue.

The NYLGA have established a CWMS Advisory Committee : https://legatus.sa.gov.au/board-resources-2/ 

 Savings to councils including time and travel via Certificate 3 Waste Water Operators / Management and other training opportunities. An online training program was developed and provided to the LGA for their consideration.

Sub-regional workshops are held each year and these include presentations by experts and are used as a network sharing opportunity for each member council. The target will be those officers directly involved in the delivery of the services. These will include site visits to see what others are doing. The annual State-wide forum has been managed by the NYLGA allowing for the most recent knowledge to be shared by experts and it provides an opportunity for case studies to be presented. The target is for officers, councillors and other staff to raise the awareness more broadly of CWMS.
